Carpenter Nature Center’s Home School Programs are created to offer students in home schools an opportunity to meet other children, take part in environmental education programs, and enjoy the outdoors. Programs are offered throughout the school year with topics varying seasonally for children ages 5 – 9 or ages 10 years and older. Programs include an outdoor portion so dress appropriately for the weather. Reservations are required for all programs.

Insects and Invertebrates
CarpenterNatureCenter’s Home School Programs are created to offer students in home schools an opportunity to meet other children, take part in environmental education programs, and enjoy the outdoors. Students ages 5 – 9 yrs. will study the life cycle of insects and use sweep nets to see how mnay different kinds of insects they can catch. Older students (ages 10 yrs. and up) will search the woods and look closely at arthropods, annelids, and mollusks. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Food Chains and Alterantive Energy
Food Chains (ages 5 – 9): Students will study the energy flow in food chains by finding clues in nature to create their own food chains.
Alternative Energy (ages 10 and older): Students will conduct experiments to learn about alternative energy sources including wind power and solar.
