Volunteer
Volunteers are critically important to helping Carpenter Nature Center fulfill our mission. Some volunteer weekly, while others support our special events, which occur several times a year. Whether you are looking for some professional experience, like to be outdoors, want to share your knowledge with children, or just want to stay busy, CNC can provide a rewarding volunteer experience.

Naturalist Assistant – help teach/lead small group hikes. Ages of students vary but primarily K-5th. Teaching experience helpful but the only requirement is enthusiasm and willingness to share nature with children.
Animal Care – We have a variety of animals used for educational purposes. Help is needed with feeding, cleaning, and general care of these animals. No experience needed, we provide training.
Gardeners – Volunteers help plan, plant, and tend the gardens at CNC. All material costs involved are paid by us we just need people to come “play in our dirt.” We are also looking for people to help with our apple orchard.
Grounds Keeping/Maintenance – Duties could include mowing, landscaping, trail upkeep, and small-scale construction.
Special Events – If you have limited availability, consider volunteering for our special events. Throughout the year we have a variety of events that require many volunteers to help everything run smoothly. This includes Apple Fest in October, Masters of the Sky, Raptor Release, and more.
Visitor Greeter – Be that friendly face for visitors on the weekends.
Additional Volunteer Opportunities– Do you have a special skill or interest that is not listed above? Create your own unique volunteer position by letting us know how you are able to help! Whether it’s addressing and stamping envelopes for our special events, assisting with development of promotional materials, decorating for holidays, facility cleaning and maintenance, traveling with our outreach team, tabulating data, or assistance with special projects, we are grateful for all volunteer efforts.
Though we are not hosting many of our annual events this year due to COVID-19, there still may be some opportunities to get involved at CNC. Please contact Alan by emailing alan@carpenternaturecenter.org if you are interested in learning more.
Carpenter Nature Center would like to thank our current volunteer hours matching Donor Companies – 3M Foundation, Securian, and Ecolab.
