Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are critically important to helping Carpenter Nature Center fulfill our mission. Some volunteer weekly, while others support our special events, which occur several times a year. Whether you are looking for some professional experience, like to be outdoors, want to share your knowledge with children, or just want to stay busy, CNC can provide a rewarding volunteer experience.
CNC offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for adults, family or community groups, corporate volunteer day of service, and more.
CNC would like to thank our current volunteer hours matching Donor Companies –
3M Foundation, Securian, and Ecolab.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Visitor Greeter – Be that friendly face for visitors on the weekends at the front desk.
Naturalist Assistant – Help lead environmental education classes. Ages of students varies (primarily K-5). On-site training for class topics is provided as well as access to lesson plans.
Special Events – Help with some of the weekend events that occur throughout the year including Raptor Release, Apple Festival, Masters of the Sky, Bird Festival, Art Festival, and more. Great for those who want to volunteer as a family.
Orchard – In the winter and spring help with pruning apple trees. During the fall, help with picking, sorting, and selling apples in CNC’s Apple Shack. Other miscellaneous tasks available.
Habitat – CNC has a weekly Wisconsin Habitat volunteer team. For interest in habitat restoration on the WI Campus, contact Abbey Holden by emailing Abbey@carpenternaturecenter.org
Gardens / Grounds – Help plant, weed, water, and spruce up the gardens. Help with trail upkeep or small-scale construction.
NHS or College Volunteer Hours – If you are a student in need of hours for National Honor Society or college course requirements, we can accommodate short-term opportunities for you.
Do you have a special skill or interest that is not listed above? Create your own unique volunteer position by letting us know how you are able to help.
FILLED POSITIONS
At this time we are no longer accepting volunteers for Animal Care. Below is a description of the position, should it become available in the future.
Animal Care – We have a variety of animals used for educational purposes. Help is needed with feeding, cleaning, and general care of these animals. No experience needed, we provide training.
Since 1984, volunteers have put in over 100,000 hours of volunteer time at Carpenter Nature Center. That is the equivalent of almost 50 staff!
We would not be able to do what we do without the extra set of hands volunteers provide.
THANK YOU!
