Frosty Forty Weekly Theme: “Keeping Tally”

Frosty Forty Weekly Theme: Explore a State Natural Area

This week explore a State Natural Area. These areas are part of a conservation program designed to protect outstanding examples of native landscapes, geological formations, and archaeological sites. There are over 585,000 acres of land protected as State Natural Areas in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It is a great opportunity to explore more rugged trails. Full Moon Walk

February 27 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Venture out on the night of the full moon for an evening walk. Depending on snow conditions this will either be a walk on the paved trail or snowshoeing on a designated route. Snowshoe rental will be available for $5.00 a pair if there is adequate snow cover. Sign up individually or with your family group. Frosty Forty Weekly Theme: Give Back by Cleaning Up

This week, give back by cleaning up! Grab a trash bag before you head out and clean up litter or debris as you complete your miles. Helping preserve your favorite trail, by picking up litter, is a great way to give back to your community. For added motivation, challenge your friends and family to see who can pick up the most! Frosty Forty Weekly Theme: Spotting Signs of Spring

This week, look for signs of spring. Compared to the start of the Frosty Forty in January, many of our favorite trails have already begun to change with the approaching spring. Noticing seasonal changes is a great introduction to phenology. You may decide to keep the fun going all year and start your own phenology calendar. Last Day of the Frosty Forty
