Tropical Wings is again sponsoring a poetry reading event on Earth Day to call on us to reflect on our call to care for our planetary home. Please join us on Earth Day, April 22, for an evening of poetry reading centered around nature. You will hear works inspired by nature by poets Thomas Smith, Maureen Ash, and Ojibway poet Ardie Medina. At the end there will be an open mic session for those attending can read a favorite poem, read a poem they created or listen and enjoy!
On April 22, 1970, Gaylord Nelson’s concern for our planet inspired him to ask citizens to gather and reflect on threats to the health of the planet earth. He asked them to imagine how grassroots collective efforts could sustain the planet. 56 years later the peril to our planetary home has never been greater.
