Enjoy Mother’s Day by helping Mother Nature!
Why just pull an invasive species when you can also eat it! Garlic Mustard is a hardy and invasive plant that can decimate a woodland understory but, it is also edible. During this event, we will spend an hour pulling garlic mustard in the Hein Wood at CNC’s Wisconsin Campus. Learn to identify first and second-year growth, why controlling garlic mustard is vital to forest health, and methods for controlling it on your own property. Then, we will take the freshly harvested shoots and turn them into delicious pesto! CNC will provide all of the materials to make the pesto and each person will be able to take a jar home.
This event is family-friendly. Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the woods and bring drinking water. If you do not have work gloves, you can borrow some from CNC.
This event is $5 per person. Registration is required. Please call 651-437-4359.
